She received her MLIS in May of 2012 from Dominican University.  She has also worked in public libraries in the technical services departmet for almost 8 years.  Previously she worked as a technical services clerk and than a technical services assistant at the Orland Park Public Library in Orland Park, IL and at Poplar Creek Public Library in Streamwood, IL.           She has worked with automated systems such as Polaris, Sirsi Dynix Symphony, and Millennium.  Vanessa Liptack has also been keeping up with the latest trends in the cataloging world.  She is very knowledgable about RDA and FRBR.  Vanessa Liptack is also familiar with different types of Metadata.  She has worked with DublinCore and TEI and has also read about XML, METS, and other metadata schemas.           Vanessa Liptack has done original cataloging for three years now.  She has done copy cataloging for over 6 years in public libraries.  Vanessa Liptack has also learned how to assign Dewey Decimal Numbers, LC Supject Headings in both English and Spanish.
